With nearly 100 undergraduate programs and 200+ campus clubs and organizations, NMSU offers countless opportunities to enhance your college experience, without breaking the bank. The Opportunity and Lottery scholarships provide an additional resource to New Mexico residents to help cover the cost of tuition and fees.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for the Opportunity and Lottery scholarships, you need to be a resident of New Mexico, enrolled as a part-time or full-time student and must be admitted to a bachelor’s degree program at the Las Cruces campus or NMSU Global Campus.

What does it cover?

Tuition and fees! You can stack other aid such as Pell Grants, local and private scholarships so those funds can be used to pay for books, materials, housing, food and other college costs.

Are there requirements for renewal?

Maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) beginning with the first semester you receive the scholarship and continue to make Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Do I have to apply for the scholarship?

There is no application needed! Eligible NMSU students will be contacted by our financial aid office.

I didn’t finish my degree, am I still eligible?

Yes! If you have less than 90 credit hours on your transcript toward an associate degree or less than 160 toward a bachelor's degree, you may qualify.
